Role Summary
The Director Business Development is responsible for driving direct sales across a full portfolio of infrastructure services within investor owned utility and telecommunications markets. This role manages key customer relationships, expands market share, and supports profitable growth while reinforcing a strong and trusted market presence.
This is a highly client facing role that works closely with Operations, Contracts, and Product teams to align customer needs with service delivery. The position requires strong territory ownership, disciplined sales execution, and comfort operating independently in a travel intensive environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Drive direct sales of all services and solutions within assigned utility and telecommunications accounts
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customer stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership
• Develop and execute sales plans to ensure effective market coverage and consistent customer engagement
• Coordinate closely with Operations leadership to support existing customers and pursue new opportunities
• Provide customer and market insight to support proposal strategy and contract development
• Submit pricing recommendations after gathering production, scheduling, and operational input
• Align project schedules and customer expectations with operational capacity
• Produce and maintain accurate sales forecasts for assigned accounts
• Maintain customer and contact records using company systems and processes
• Participate in sales training, product education, and professional development initiatives
• Support cross functional projects that improve efficiency, reduce complexity, and drive growth
Key Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree with experience in sales, business development, or management, or equivalent professional experience
• Prior experience selling to investor owned utilities and or telecommunications companies strongly preferred
• Proven success in direct, relationship driven sales within technical or services based environments
• Strong understanding of account management, forecasting, and territory planning
• Ability to operate independently and manage a large geographic territory
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship building skills
• Self motivated with demonstrated leadership qualities
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively, approximately 80 percent including overnight travel
• Valid driver’s license with a clear driving record
